Bentley Map V8i (SELECTseries 10) Help

Scan Options Dialog

Used to present saved scan criteria and add new elements to the grid. MapIndex supports text elements, text nodes, and flexi-text. The initial location of text elements selected by the scanner can be adjusted depending on the type of map being scanned. When text is placed in a DGN along a curved element, each character is placed as a separate text element. Only the graphic group number can be used to determine that each of the letters make up part of a single string.

Opens when clicking on the Scan Locations button in the Edit Grid dialog.

Type

Sets the initial origin.

  • Text Center - sets the center of selected text elements at their snap points.

  • Text Origin - sets initial origins at the snap point of the text elements selected. This option is most useful when text elements are the elements being searched for on the map, as in a street directory.

  • Nearest Cell/Circle - the scanner searches for the center of the closest ellipse or the origin of the closest cell, shared or unshared, and sets it as the initial origin point. If neither can be found within a reasonable distance, the origin reverts to text origin. If the initial location logic fails, the origin can be corrected using Check Locations.

Join like graphic groups

Causes the scanner to automatically join text elements that have the same graphic group number, if on. There is no indication in the design file as to the order of the characters, thus the scanner has to attempt to recalculate the original string. If characters are incorrectly joined, they can be split and rejoined in the correct order using Check Locations.

Clear Location

Clears the locations of previous scans.

Scan

Starts the scanner.

OK

Exists the dialog.

Cancel
